Board Member
Dr. Winnie Tarinyeba Kiryabwire is a member of the Board of Directors of Muhazi Heritage.
Winnie is a lawyer and academic with 20+ years of professional experience and expertise in corporate law, banking, securities regulation and corporate governance. She is also a Certified Director (IoD- UK) with wide experience as non-executive director with various organizations in the private, public and not-for profit sectors in Uganda as well as an international organization.
Winnie is the Chairperson of DFCU Bank, and Associate Professor of Law at the School of Law, Makerere University and visting Professor at Strathmore Law School in Nairobi, Kenya.
Winnie is a member of the board of the International Ethics Standards Board for Accountants (IESBA), where she chairs the Emerging Issues and Outreach Committee.
Previously, Winnie served as Chairperson of the Investment Committee and Member of the Audit, Finance and Risk Committee of Financial Sector Deepening Uganda (FSDU)- 2015-2019, and has held directorships in African Alliance (U) Ltd, Gatsby Microfinance (U) Ltd, Makerere University Holdings Ltd, University Council of Mbarara University of Science and Technology, etc.
Winnie has advised government agencies and regulators in various jurisdictions in Africa on institutional, legal and regulatory reforms, capacity assessments and capacity building, peer assessments and review, and has worked with regional and international bodies such as the East Africa Community (EAC), NEPAD/AU, DFID and World Bank/IFC.
She has also served as country review mission independent expert for the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) of the African Union for Uganda, Liberia and Sierra Leone.
Winnie is a Fellow of the Uganda National Academy of Sciences (UNAS) and holds LLB, LLM and Doctor of the Science of Law degrees from Makerere University Kampala, Cambridge University and Stanford University, respectively.
